What does laser engraving look like on cork?
A warm toasted-brown mark, slightly recessed, permanent — it cannot peel, fade in a dishwasher of sunlight, or wear off under glasses, because it is a change in the cork itself. Fine detail reads well on fine-grain cork; on coarse agglomerate the crumbs interrupt the linework, which is exactly why our grain grade is stated rather than left to luck.
How is this different from the cork coasters on big marketplaces?
Look at their edges: most are a thin cork veneer glued to an MDF or card core, so you can see the layers like a biscuit. The veneer lifts at the rim, and the first wet glass that touches the exposed board swells it.
